Bollywood just lost another legend as Manoj Kumar (known as India’s Bharat Kumar) passed away on April 4 at 87. 

Tributes started pouring in as soon as the news broke. Many Bollywood stars, including Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and Karan Johar shared heartfelt messages.

Bollywood Pays Tribute To Late Manoj Kumar

Akshay Kumar shared a black-and-white photo of Manoj Kumar on social media. He wrote, “I grew up learning from him that there’s no emotion like love and pride for our country. And if we actors won’t take the lead in showing this emotion, who will? Such a fine person and one of the biggest assets of our fraternity. RIP Manoj Sir. Om Shanti.”

Aamir Khan also honoured the late actor. In a statement shared, he called him an ‘institution’ rather than just an actor and filmmaker. The Sitaare Zameen Par actor said, “His films were often based on important social themes, which brought him really close to the common man. My heartfelt condolences to his family.”

Ajay Devgn shared a personal connection with Manoj Kumar. He revealed how the veteran actor played a key role in his father Veeru Devgan’s career. The Raid 2 called Manoj Kumar a crucial figure in his family’s journey. He shared that Kumar gave his father, Veeru Devgan, his first big break as an action director in Roti Kapda Aur Makaan. Their partnership continued with Kranti, creating unforgettable moments in Indian cinema.

He also praised Kumar’s films like Upkar, Purab Aur Paschim, Shor, and Kranti, calling them deeply patriotic. He admired Kumar’s storytelling skills, dedication to the nation, and lasting influence on filmmakers. Ajay expressed gratitude for Kumar’s impact on his father’s career and the film industry, saying his legacy will live on forever.

Karan Johar, Hansal Mehta, Farhan Akhtar, and Subhash Ghai also paid tribute. 

Last Rites Tomorrow

Manoj Kumar had been ill for a long time and took his last breath at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai at 4:03 AM. His final rites will be held tomorrow.
