Film Set To Compete With New Bollywood Release Sikandar

The real challenge begins now as L2 Empuraan faces Salman Khan’s Sikandar at the box office. AR Murugadoss directed Sikandar, which released today on Eid, a festival that has always favoured Salman at the box office.

Murugadoss introduced Bollywood to the Rs 100 crore club with Ghajini (2008) and is expected to deliver another action-packed hit. Rashmika Mandanna also stars in the film after recent hits like Pushpa 2: The Rule and Chhaava.

While Sikandar will dominate the Hindi market, Empuraan remains strong in the South. The coming weeks will show whether Mohanlal’s film can hold its ground against the Bollywood superstar.

Controversy And Censorship Of L2 Empuraan

Empuraan has faced criticism over alleged political references, including mentions of the 2002 Gujarat riots and portrayals of central investigative agencies. Co-producer Gokulam Gopalan confirmed that the team has suggested 17 voluntary cuts after the backlash.

Gopalan told Manorama Online, “I told Prithviraj Sukumaran to make necessary changes if any dialogue or scene in the film hurt anyone. Certain words have already been muted. There is a protest against certain things in the film. I have asked the director to make the necessary changes. We are not involved in any politics.”

The revised version of the film is expected to be released in cinemas next week.
