An American woman has taken social media by storm with her fiery take on the 2002 Bollywood film Devdas starring Shah Rukh Khan. A content creator named Katie Cole posted a video on Instagram demanding ‘Justice’ for Chandramukhi. Her video quickly went viral and amassed over 256,000 views in just two days.
Woman Says ‘Chandramukhi Deserves Better’ After Watching Devdas
Katie watched Devdas last week and was left frustrated by how Madhuri Dixit’s character, Chandramukhi, was treated in the film.
She declared, “Justice, Justice, Justice for my girl Chandramukhi. Because what do you mean to tell me – she is everything, she’s beautiful, she’s talented, she’s a businesswoman, she is building her own empire, and then like, waiting around for this guy?”
She also took a dig at Shah Rukh Khan’s character, Devdas and said, “This guy, that’s the guy she is waiting for? For him to randomly be like ‘Oh my God, I do like kind of like you a little bit.’”
She pointed out how Devdas destroyed his own relationship with Paro (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) but kept obsessing over her. Katie wrapped up her video with a strong message: “Girl Chandramukhi, you deserve better.”

What’s Devdas About?
For those unfamiliar, Devdas tells the tragic story of Devdas Mukherjee, a wealthy young man who loves his childhood friend Paro. But when their families refuse their marriage, Paro gets married to another man.
Heartbroken Devdas turns to alcohol and finds companionship in Chandramukhi, a kind-hearted courtesan. Despite her love for him, he remains obsessed with Paro. In the end, he dies outside Paro’s mansion without ever making peace with his past.
