Mouni Roy has just completed her schedule for David Dhawan’s next romantic comedy, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai — and in a lovely Instagram post she called it a dream. Also comparing the film experience to the iconic sitcom FRIENDS, Mouni said being on set felt like “magic” — and even disclosed her quirky character name: Shammo.

Mouni called it a lifelong dream and dropped a behind-the-scenes pile of dirt from filming with Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, Mrunal Thakur and director Farhad Samji. But of course, the moment everyone obsessed over? Comparing David Dhawan’s sets with the familiarity and insanity of FRIENDS — the pop-culture cult American sitcom.
“His films feel like the show FRIENDS to me. Working with David sir is a dream come true! This is magic. This is what it feels like for your dreams to come true,” she stated.
She referred to both David Dhawan and Rohit Dhawan (David’s most frequent collaborator) as the “pillars” of this madcap rom-com, which promises all the flair of the “comedy classic” David Dhawan provided with a new Gen-Z spin.

As she soaked in her last day of shooting, Mouni revealed a little more about her character in the film: Shammo.
