Maddock Films, known for hits such as Stree and Bhediya, has unveiled the trailer for its latest horror-comedy, Munjya. This new film promises to be a summer hit for Gen Z, kids, and families alike, and it introduces India’s most advanced CGI character, Munjya.
Set for a theatrical release next month, Munjya tells the story of a spirit named Munjya, who is obsessively in love, within a horror narrative rooted in folklore.
The teasers and posters released earlier have already created a buzz on social media, with fans and critics eagerly speculating about the enigmatic Munjya and his quest for his love, Munni.
What’s In Munjya Trailer?
The official trailer reveals the curse surrounding Chetukwadi and the tree where Munjya’s ashes are buried. Munjya, a spirit longing to marry Munni, waits for a descendant to help him achieve his goal.
The character Bittu encounters Munjya and is offered a fee to exorcise the spirit. However, complications arise as Munni hails from Bittu’s village, leading Bittu to resolve to keep Munjya at bay.
The trailer hints at themes of black magic and sacrificial rituals, building tension as Munjya persistently demands to marry Munni.
Munjya Is The First CGI Actor Of India
Producer Dinesh Vijan shared insights into the film, stating, “At the heart of it, this is Munjya’s love story and it’s about his first love – Munni. However, he doesn’t get her! If you’ve ever had an obsessive lover or obsessed over anybody, you will understand his POV. If not his, Munni’s for sure,” he added with a touch of humour.
Vijan also highlighted the technological advancements that brought Munjya to life, noting, “Munjya is technologically the most advanced CGI actor out there in India and we are very proud of it. It definitely is going to be a spectacle for children, Gen Next and the whole family.”

Munjya stars Sharvari, Mona Singh, Abhay Verma, and Sathyaraj. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film is based on a myth deeply rooted in Indian culture and beliefs. Audiences can expect a blend of fright and laughter as they follow Munjya’s journey.
