Sohail Khan Announces New Comedy: My Punjabi Nikaah
Sohail Khan, the Bollywood film producer and director, has now revealed the name of his new comedy — My Punjabi Nikaah. The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Aayush Sharma, and Annu Kapoor and has just gone into production. The movie promises to take a trip through a combination of cultures, comedy and emotions, all set against a light family comedy that also deals with cross-religious matters.
Sohail announced the title of the film via social media but also noted that he showed the support of some political leaders from Punjab and Haryana.
In an extended and very emotional post, Sohail Khan shared how the film started life with the blessings of Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann. The film is likely to film in various locations in North India and was boosted by the positive responses from local government officials, adding to the pre-production excitement.
“The love, affection, support and accommodations we have received are very much appreciated. I have, in all seriousness, have been very moved by everyone’s support. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart,” Sohail said on Instagram.
His emotional post shows how personally involved he is in My Punjabi Nikaah, calling it his “pet project” and his “labour of love”.

Though the plot remains largely undisclosed, My Punjabi Nikaah is likely a religious cultural collision that navigates modern romance, leaving viewers curious and excited. With Sanjay Dutt anticipated as an overbearing patriarch, Aayush Sharma as the handsome suitor, and Annu Kapoor as the funny uncle, this film is guaranteed to ride the comedy line.
And just when viewers thought they couldn’t be more intrigued, it was announced that there is a “beautiful mysterious girl” whom Sohail has not revealed — which raises questions regarding the female lead.
Aayush Sharma’s Busy Schedule
In addition to My Punjabi Nikaah, Aayush Sharma is juggling an untitled action film, where he has also shown off a rugged new look. Alongside two back-to-back films for Aayush Sharma, it appears he is destined for a big run at the box office in 2025–2026.
