Nani Takes U-Turn & Praises Arshad Warsi As He Clarifies His ‘Publicity’ Remark: ‘He’s Very Good Actor & We All Loved Him In Munna Bhai’

Nani clarifies his controversial remark on Arshad Warsi, praising the actor and blaming translation issues for the misunderstanding.

Telugu star Nani recently found himself in the middle of an unexpected controversy following his remarks about actor Arshad Warsi. The incident occurred during the trailer launch of his upcoming film Surya’s Saturday. When asked about Warsi’s criticism of Prabhas’ role in the blockbuster Kalki, Nani’s response stirred up a storm, particularly among Hindi film fans.

Warsi, in an interview on Unfiltered by Samdish, had criticised Prabhas’ performance in Kalki, comparing it to that of a “joker.” This comment didn’t sit well with Nani, who responded in Telugu, implying that the media was giving Warsi unnecessary attention.

He said, “The person that you’re referring to, this must be the most publicity he has got in his life.” While his remarks drew applause from Prabhas’ fans, they also attracted backlash from others who saw it as a disrespectful jab at Warsi.

Nani JUSTIFIES His Publicity Comment On Arshad Warsi

During his conversation with Mid-day, Nani explained that his comments were misunderstood due to translation issues. “I saw online when a language is translated into English, how it might sound. That always happens with social media,” he said.

Nani admitted that his choice of words might have been too harsh and clarified that his initial reaction was fuelled by his admiration for Prabhas. He further explained that he only saw brief clips of Warsi’s interview, which led to his strong reaction.

After taking a step back and watching the entire interview, Nani’s perspective shifted. He acknowledged that the situation had been blown out of proportion, both by the media and on social media.

“When it’s about a person you really love, you immediately react and say, ‘Why are you giving so much importance to an unimportant matter?'” Nani shared.

He also pointed out that actors must be more cautious with their words in public, as even casual remarks can escalate quickly.

Telugu Star Also PRAISES The Munna Bhai Actor

Nani was quick to praise Warsi’s talent, stating, “Arshad Warsi ji is a very good actor and we all loved him in Munna Bhai, not just north or south, but the whole of India.” He noted that Munna Bhai is a beloved film across the country, and emphasised that both he and Warsi were victims of a situation where their words were taken out of context.

Reflecting on the incident, Nani expressed regret over his choice of words but also criticised how social media amplifies minor issues. “The biggest thing that you can do is accept your regret. But what I am also saying is that it sounds so bad when it’s translated,” he said. Nani urged actors to take responsibility for their statements, acknowledging that sometimes emotions can get the best of them.

Despite the controversy, Nani believes that social media fan wars don’t reflect the true sentiments shared between Bollywood and South Indian cinema. He mentioned that these online battles are often just a way for fans to pass the time and should not be taken too seriously. Nani concluded by expressing his respect for Bollywood actors and directors, stating that the industry is now more united than ever.

In closing, Nani dismissed the controversy, joking that if he ever bumps into Warsi, they might just hug it out.
