Nawazuddin Siddiqui will return as Inspector Jatil Yadav in Raat Akeli Hai 2, the sequel to the 2020 thriller. Netflix India is bringing back the popular whodunit the next chapter is happening. It is currently in the works.
As per a Peeping Moon Report, Siddiqui will reprise his role as the small-town cop, this time investigating another high-profile murder case.
Chitrangada Singh To Play The Female Lead In Raat Akeli Hai 2
The report reveals that Housefull 5 actress Chitrangda Singh, who has been cast as the female lead. While details of the plot and the characters remain tightly under wraps, the film is expected to follow the traditional sequel format, with Jatil Yadav tackling another complex and mysterious case.
The pairing of Siddiqui and Singh is a full-circle moment. They were supposed to work together on Babumoshai Bandookbaaz in 2017, but Singh backed out due to discomfort with the film’s intimate scenes.
However, it appears the two have mended their past differences and are now looking forward to working together in this thrilling sequel. Singh has expressed excitement about finally teaming up with Siddiqui for Raat Akeli Hai 2.
Honey Trehn To Return As Director For Sequel
The film will again be directed by Honey Trehn, who made his directorial debut with the first instalment. Trehn, a casting director turned filmmaker, will also produce the sequel alongside Abhishek Chaubey under their banner, Macguffin Pictures.
The film will be co-produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies. The script will once again be written by Smita Singh Khan, who penned the first part of the series. Production for the film is set to begin next month, with a late 2025 release date in mind.
The original Raat Akeli Hai was a gripping murder mystery set in a small town. It starred Radhika Apte and Shweta Tripathi and was praised for its intense performances and plot. The sequel promises to follow the same formula, with Jatil Yadav unravelling another twisted case.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui & Chitrangada’s Upcoming Projects
Siddiqui is also working on other projects, including Thama with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, and has three more films lined up, including Bole Chudiyaan, Noorani Chehra, and Lion King.
Chitrangda Singh is busy as well, with roles in Housefull 5 alongside Akshay Kumar and the Netflix series Khakee: The Bengal Chapter.
