Pt Shivkumar Sharma, a well-known classical musician, died on Tuesday as a result of a heart attack. The santoor master was given a state funeral today, and Amitabh Bachchan and his wife Jaya Bachchan paid their respects. Some netizens are dissatisfied with their attendance at the burial.
The late artist composed music for Yash Chopra’s 1981 film Silsila for the uninitiated. Big B, Jaya, Rekha, and Shashi Kapoor all appeared in the film. In the film, his songs featured the popular hits Dekha Ek Khwaab and Ye Kahan Aa Gaye Hum.
Pictures and videos of Amitabh Bachchan and his wife Jaya Bachchan attending Pt Shivkumar Sharma’s state burial have gone viral. While many complimented the experienced actors’ efforts to pay tribute to the late music legend, others were not pleased. Some observers noted that both actors did not attend the burial of another great singer, Lata Mangeshkar, who died earlier this year.
A social media user commented, “Waah. Here is Bollywood hypocrisy on so called. Panditji ke leeye pahuch gaye aur Lataji ke leeye nai Pahuchey Mrs. Bachchan. Wow. Perhaps She (Lataji) was less respected and famous. Nai” while another user wrote, “Both Of Their Body Languages Lacks Emotions And Feelings.” A third user commented, “These people act at all times … if no camera or lime light … what do they have ?”
