The conversation around Peddi has taken a sharp turn just two days into its theatrical run. Buchi Babu Sana, who directed the Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor starrer, has publicly apologised after sections of the audience criticised certain scenes involving Janhvi’s character. The filmmaker has also confirmed that the team will alter the concerned portions.
Released in India on June 4, 2026, Peddi arrived with major attention around Ram Charan’s return to a large scale Telugu entertainer. But amid the buzz, viewers raised objections to the framing and treatment of Janhvi Kapoor’s character, prompting the director to address the criticism directly.
Buchi Babu Sana Confirms Changes To Peddi
Sharing a statement on X, Buchi Babu Sana wrote:
“As a filmmaker, I believe cinema should entertain, inspire, and connect with audiences. It should never make anyone feel uncomfortable or disrespected. We have heard the feedback regarding certain scenes in Peddi and have taken it seriously. ; ; I have always had immense respect for women, both on and off screen, and it was never our intention to objectify or disrespect any female character. If any part of the film has been perceived that way, we respect those sentiments, understand the concerns being raised, and sincerely apologize. ; ; After reviewing the feedback, we have decided to make changes to the concerned portions. Cinema grows through its connection with audiences, and as storytellers, we have a responsibility to be mindful of evolving perspectives and sensitivities. ; ; Every woman deserves to be respected, valued, and represented with dignity. We remain committed to telling stories that celebrate strong characters and uphold those values. ; ; Thank you to everyone who shared their views honestly and sincerely.”
The statement makes it clear that the team has taken the audience response seriously, with Buchi Babu Sana underlining that discomfort or disrespect was never the intention behind the scenes. The decision to revise the portions while the film is already in cinemas signals an immediate course correction from the makers.
