Piku is coming back to theatres, and Deepika Padukone shared the news in the most emotional way.
On Saturday, Deepika posted a video on Instagram to announce the re-release of her 2015 film Piku. The clip showed old scenes from the film and included a special message from Amitabh Bachchan.
Piku Re-Release Announced
In the video, Amitabh said, “Nomoshkar (Hello). Piku, remember? Piku, Bhaskar da, they went on a road trip. Don’t remember? Watch this. It was an amazing road trip. It was unpredictable and unforgettable.” He continued, “There were emotions, laughter and tensions too. Piku is re-releasing at your nearest theatres. Do watch, won’t you?”
Piku will return to cinemas on May 9, 2025, to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
Deepika added her own note to the video. She wrote, “A film that will always have my heart – PIKU is back in theatres on 9th May, 2025 to celebrate its 10th Anniversary! Irrfan, we miss you! And think about you every so often…”
That one line about Irrfan touched fans deeply. Many flooded the comments with love. One wrote, “The actor is a masterpiece herself, then won’t her movies be!” Another said, “My all-time fav movie. My comfort movie.” Others added, “Can’t wait to watch it!!” and “Outstanding.”
About The Film
Shoojit Sircar directed Piku, a slice-of-life comedy drama that follows a father-daughter relationship. Deepika, Amitabh Bachchan, and the late Irrfan Khan played the lead roles. Moushumi Chatterjee, Jisshu Sengupta, and Raghubir Yadav also appeared in the film.
Recently, he posted a behind-the-scenes photo from the set. In the picture, he sat on the floor, talking seriously with Deepika before an emotional scene. He captioned it, “PIKU BTS, an intense discussion before the burst out scene.”
Piku, which released in 2015, quickly became a fan-favourite for its simple story, emotional depth, and strong performances.
