Prithviraj Sukumaran recently shared an unexpected twist about a film he was planning with Rajinikanth. In a recent interview, he revealed that the project was initially intended for Shah Rukh Khan.
Prithviraj Sukumaran Crafted A Film Story For Shah Rukh Khan
Prithviraj explained that the idea for the film came to him while he was in London having lunch with Subaskaran, the head of Lyca Productions.
“I was in London when I met Subaskaran sir of Lyca Productions. We had lunch together and I thought of pitching this idea in my mind that I wanted to do with Rajinikanth, sir,” he shared with Gallata India.
However, the film wasn’t originally meant for Rajinikanth. It was a concept he had initially developed for a Hindi film that he had planned to pitch to Shah Rukh Khan.
Lyca Was Interested With Rajinikanth But The Film Never Happened
Explaining further, he said that Lyca Productions showed interest in the project, but due to his busy schedule, he couldn’t move forward with it. At that time, Prithviraj was working on the second schedule of Aadujeevitham and was also involved in The Goat Life. Because of these commitments, he couldn’t focus on the Rajinikanth film.
There were also rumours when a picture of Prithviraj visiting Shah Rukh Khan’s office in Mumbai went viral. Although nothing has been confirmed about a collaboration between the two, fans have been buzzing about the possibility of such a partnership.
Prithviraj Sukumaran Is Currently Busy With Mohanlal’s L2 Empuraan
Now, Prithviraj is preparing for his next major project L2: Empuraan. He directs the film, which stars Mohanlal in the lead role. This movie will be the second part of the Lucifer trilogy and will continue the story from the 2019 hit Lucifer. The film will serve as both a prequel and a sequel.
The cast also includes Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Saniya Iyappan, Saikumar, Baiju Santhosh, and more. L2: Empuraan is scheduled to release in theatres on March 27, 2025.
Prithviraj also has other exciting projects lined up, including Salaar: Part 2, Vilayath Buddha, and Sarzameen.
