Jay Shewakramani is taking his production game to the next level. The producer, known for backing films like Jawaani Jaaneman, Malang, Freddy, and Jaane Jaan, is expanding his slate with three new films.
Under his banner Northern Lights Films, he is exploring multiple genres to ensure a fresh lineup for Bollywood fans.
A Horror Comedy, Action Comedy & Courtroom Drama In Works
According to a Peeping Moon report, Shewakramani has signed three directors, Saket Chaudhary, Anirudh Iyer, and Pulkit, for his upcoming projects. Each director adds their own style, making this lineup exciting.
Hindi Medium fame Saket Chaudhary is making his directorial comeback after eight years. He will helm a youthful horror comedy with cultural roots. This will be his first feature film since 2017, making it one of the most awaited projects from Northern Lights Films.
Anirudh Iyer (who gained attention with An Action Hero) is shifting gears with an action comedy. This film will blend humour with high-energy sequences, moving away from his previous intense thriller. The script is in its final stages, and production is expected to start later this year or early next year.
Pulkit (currently wrapping up Maalik starring Rajkummar Rao) has already locked in his next film with Northern Lights Films. This time, he’s venturing into a courtroom drama. The casting process is ongoing and an A-list Bollywood actress is reportedly in talks to play the lead. Pulkit has previously worked on Boss: Dead/Alive and Bhakshak.

Apart from these new signings, Shewakramani has two major films lined up for release in 2025. Rajkummar Rao and Manushi Chhillar starrer Maalik is set to hit cinemas on 20 June. The gangster drama explores power struggles in the underworld, making it one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
Meanwhile, Inspector Zende, featuring Manoj Bajpayee and Jim Sarbh, is expected to premiere on Netflix later this year. The crime thriller follows Mumbai cop Madhukar Zende, who famously captured serial killer Charles Sobhraj twice.
