Rajkummar Rao is all set to explore new creative avenues in his career. After a stellar 2024, marked by his performance in Srikanth and the blockbuster success of Stree 2, the actor is now diving into production.
According to reports, Rajkummar will star in and produce a dark comedy directed by Sector 36 director Aditya Nimbalkar.

This untitled Netflix original is described as a gripping dark comedy set against the backdrop of a murder mystery.
A source close to the project shared with Pinkvilla, “It’s a dark comedy set against the backdrop of a murder. Rajkummar Rao loved the subject to the extent that he decided to produce his himself. The actor took on the responsibilities of a producer, and then partnered with Netflix on a direct-to-digital deal.”
Filming Begins In January 2025
The source further revealed that the film’s screenplay is packed with unexpected twists, promising to bring a fresh spin to the murder-mystery genre.
“Everyone has loved the subject and is bullish on the prospects of the film on digital medium. It’s a new flavour to the genre of murder, and the screenplay is packaged with twists and turns,” the source added.
The project is scheduled to begin filming in January 2025, with a planned release by the end of the year.
Rajkummar’s decision to produce comes as no surprise, given his knack for choosing innovative and unconventional stories. This move not only highlights his evolving career but also reflects his growing influence in the entertainment industry.
In addition to this project, Rajkummar has reportedly signed on for another film, though details remain under wraps. He is also actively exploring more scripts to craft a robust slate for 2025.
