He referred to Adipurush as the contemporary rendition of Ramayan and suggested that it should only be screened in specific locations like Breach Candy and Colaba in Mumbai, rather than being distributed globally.

On Friday, the highly anticipated film Adipurush, a cinematic adaptation of the legendary Ramayana, made its debut in theaters. Directed by Om Raut, the movie features Prabhas portraying the role of Raghav, while Kriti Sanon takes on the character of Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan embodies the role of Lankesh. Ramanand Sagar’s Son Shares Views on Adipurush
During an interview, Prem expressed his views by stating that Om Raut has attempted to emulate the Marvel approach through Adipurush. He mentioned how his father, Ramanand Sagar, also utilized creative freedom while crafting Ramayan but ensured a deep understanding of Lord Ram. After extensive readings of numerous scriptures, Ramanand Sagar made minor alterations. However, he never made any attempts to distort the essence of the original story.

Furthermore, he emphasized that if a contemporary Ramayan has been created, it should be showcased solely in specific locations like Breach Candy and Colaba, rather than having a worldwide release. Prem advised against causing any emotional distress to people. He pointed out that various individuals, such as Krittivasi and Eknath, have written their versions of Ramayan, but none of them altered the core content. They merely made changes to aspects like color or language. In contrast, in this case, the entire factual basis has been modified.
