The world of Ramayana just got two more striking additions. The makers of Nitesh Tiwari’s epic have unveiled fresh character posters featuring Lara Dutta as Queen Kaikeyi and Sheeba Chadha as Manthara, bringing into focus two figures whose choices reshape the emotional and political arc of the story.
The reveal expands the steadily growing ensemble of the big-screen retelling, which has already introduced audiences to key faces from Ayodhya and Lanka. With Kaikeyi and Manthara now joining the official poster line-up, the campaign is leaning into the relationships and turning points that define Lord Rama’s journey.
New Character Posters Spotlight A Crucial Turning Point
Lara Dutta appears in a regal, richly styled look as Kaikeyi, dressed in elaborate royal attire and jewellery that underline her place in Ayodhya’s court. Sheeba Chadha’s Manthara is presented with a more severe, layered visual identity, complete with the character’s staff, hinting at the manipulative force she brings into the narrative.
The makers shared the posters with the caption, “A queen. A mother. Two wishes that would betray a father’s love and change Rama’s destiny forever.” They followed it with, “A cunning mind. Whose whispers would turn a mother’s love into a kingdom’s darkest hour.” The official post then introduced the actors directly: “Lara Dutta as Queen Kaikeyi. Sheeba Chadha as Manthara.”
Those lines neatly frame the dramatic weight both characters carry in the epic. Kaikeyi’s demands alter the fate of King Dashrath and Rama, while Manthara’s influence becomes one of the most decisive triggers in the larger conflict.
Ramayana Cast And Release Details
The new posters arrive after the unveiling of Arun Govil as King Dashrath, a casting choice that has drawn special attention given his long association with the Ramayana universe on screen. The film’s principal cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.
Backed by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana: Part 1 will open internationally on November 6, 2026, before its India release on November 8, 2026. Ramayana: Part 2 is slated for Diwali 2027, and the saga is also set for an IMAX release.
Lara Dutta And Sheeba Chadha’s Recent And Upcoming Work
For Lara Dutta, Ramayana adds another major title to a phase that has brought her back into the mainstream spotlight, following Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond in 2024. She is also attached to Welcome to the Jungle, keeping her presence strong across large-scale commercial projects.
Sheeba Chadha, meanwhile, has quietly built one of the most consistent runs across film and streaming, with titles such as All India Rank, Bad Newz and Baby John underscoring her range in recent years. Her arrival in Ramayana now feels especially significant, placing a performer known for depth and precision at the heart of one of the epic’s most consequential relationships.
