Ramayana has locked one of the biggest festive dates on the 2026 calendar, and its new ensemble poster signals exactly how the makers want to frame the film, as a grand mythological event led by some of Indian cinema’s most closely watched stars. Ramayana Part 1 will release worldwide on November 5, 2026, with advance bookings opening on Dussehra.
Unveiled on the first day of Navratri, the poster places Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman in the foreground, while Yash’s Ravana rises behind them. The composition leans fully into the moral and emotional faceoff at the core of the story, while also giving the first official sense of how the film’s principal characters are being presented as a unified ensemble.
Makers Confirm The Diwali 2026 Launch
The timing of the announcement gives the campaign an unmistakably festive charge. In the official announcement, the makers wrote, “On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, we celebrate the beginning of a new era. Yeh Ram ke Yug ka Aarambh hai. Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana Part 1: In cinemas WORLDWIDE, across all premium formats, from 5th November. Advance bookings open on Dussehra.”
That message also underlines the kind of theatrical rollout the team is planning. The film is being positioned as a large-scale big-screen experience from the outset, with the release strategy built around premium formats and a worldwide launch.
Cast, Format And Two Part Vision
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey, and is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The film will release in IMAX and other premium formats, with Sony Pictures handling the global rollout outside India and Dharma Productions distributing it in the Hindi-speaking market.
The project has been mounted as a two-part epic, with Ramayana Part 2 scheduled for Diwali 2027. That long-form structure gives the makers room to treat the material as an expansive cinematic saga rather than compressing it into a single feature, a choice that matches the scale suggested by the poster and the cross-market release plan.
Why Ramayana Matters For Its Lead Cast Now
For Ranbir Kapoor, Ramayana arrives at a moment when audience curiosity around his next big-screen transformation is especially high. After the contrasting successes of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and Animal in 2023, this film places him in one of the most culturally resonant roles of his career, and one that will be judged as much on conviction and screen presence as spectacle.
For Sai Pallavi, the film marks a major Hindi market milestone because it places her at the center of a massive pan-Indian theatrical event. Yash, meanwhile, steps into Ravana in what is easily one of the most high-profile antagonist turns currently lined up in mainstream Indian cinema. Together, that combination gives Ramayana unusual weight even before release, not just as a star vehicle, but as a defining project for its principal cast at this stage of their careers.
