Ranbir Kapoor Switches Back To Ramayana 2 As Love & War Schedule Shifts, Sunny Deol To Start Filming March 20

Ranbir Kapoor’s 2026 calendar has taken another high profile turn, and it has placed him right back in the middle of one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious mythological spectacles. As of March 2026, the actor has moved into a fresh shooting stretch for Ramayana 2 in Mumbai, after a scheduling change on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War freed up his immediate dates.

The development is significant because it signals a renewed push on the second instalment’s key portions, with the production now set to shoot pivotal combination scenes featuring Kapoor’s Lord Ram and Sunny Deol’s Lord Hanuman.

Ranbir Kapoor Resumes Ramayana 2 Shoot In Mumbai, Sunny Deol Joins On March 20

Box Office Worldwide has exclusively learned that Ranbir Kapoor has begun filming for the next schedule of Ramayana 2 in Mumbai and is expected to devote the coming months to major portions of Part 2.

The shift comes after Love & War saw its March plan change, with production expected to resume around May 2026. With that schedule pushed ahead, Kapoor has redirected his focus to Ramayana 2, aiming to complete a substantial chunk of work between March and May. As part of the continuity for the epic, he is currently sporting a clean shaven look for his portrayal of Lord Ram.

Sunny Deol is expected to join the set around March 20 for what is being positioned as a crucial leg of filming. The Mumbai schedule is set to include multiple combination scenes between Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman, sequences that are central to the narrative thrust of the second part.

Ramayana is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by producer Namit Malhotra. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita, with Yash also part of the ensemble. The makers have locked the two part release plan for the festive frame, with Part 1 set for a Diwali 2026 theatrical release, followed by Part 2 on Diwali 2027.
