Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha is back in cinemas. The film (which was first released in 2013) returned to the big screen on March 7, bringing back its timeless romance.
Ranveer Singh Calls Lootera ‘Special’
Ranveer Singh felt overjoyed by the re-release. He shared a video on Instagram and called Lootera “one of my most special movies.” His post quickly gained attention with fans expressing their love for the film.

Sonakshi Sinha also celebrated the moment with a nostalgic post. She shared behind-the-scenes photos from the film’s sets, giving fans a glimpse of special moments.
Her post featured pictures of young fans at the shooting location, candid moments with the team, and a rare group photo with Ranveer, Vikramaditya Motwane, and his wife Ishika Mohan. Sharing the post she wrote, “Some memories from set. Are you going to be watching Lootera in the theatre?”
Director Vikramaditya Motwane also shared unseen pictures from the sets. He called Lootera a deeply “personal” project and spoke about the passion behind making the film.
The film’s re-release was announced last month by a leading cinema chain. They shared the film’s poster on Instagram with the caption, “It’s time, everyone! Experience the magic of Lootera once again on the big screen.” Fans were thrilled and called it a masterpiece that deserved another run in cinemas.
About The Film
Set in the 1950s, Lootera tells the story of Varun Shrivastav (Ranveer Singh), a mysterious man who enters the life of aspiring writer Pakhi Roy Choudhury (Sonakshi Sinha). Their love story starts beautifully but takes a tragic turn when Pakhi learns that Varun is not who he appears to be. The film is inspired by O. Henry’s short story The Last Leaf and explores themes of love, betrayal, and heartbreak.
Over the years, Lootera has been praised as one of Ranveer and Sonakshi’s best performances. The film’s soulful music by Amit Trivedi and its stunning visuals continue to touch audiences.
On the work front, Ranveer Singh was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again and will next appear in Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar. Sonakshi Sinha, meanwhile, recently featured in Netflix’s Heeramandi and Zee5’s Kakuda.
