Farhan Akhtar directed the 2006 action crime film Don which starred Shah Rukh Khan as the titular character. A remake of the 1978 film of the same name starring Amitabh Bachchan, the film was a major success and was followed by a sequel titled Don 2. After more than a decade, Farhan Akhtar recently announced that he has cast Ranveer Singh in Don 3.
This news didn’t go well with the fans of Shah Rukh Khan who were waiting to see their favorite star in the third installment after so many years. However, there is a section of the audience that has welcomed this change and feels it was the need of the hour.
Ranveer Singh Pens A Note After Don 3 Announcement
Amid all the noise, Ranveer Singh took to Instagram to pen an emotional note, where he talked about making Amitabh Bachchan and Ranveer Singh proud with his performance in Don 3. He started the note with, “Gosh! I’ve been dreaming about doing this for a very, very long time! As a child I fell in love with the movies, and like the rest of us, watching and worshipping Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan – the two G.O.A.Ts of Hindi Cinema.”
Ranveer then wrote, “I understand what a great responsibility it is to be a part of the ‘Don’ dynasty. I hope the audience gives me a chance and showers me with love, the way they have for numerous characters over the past so many years.” Further, he thanked Farhan and Ritesh Sidwani for having faith in him. He then wrote, “My two supernovas, The Big B and SRK, I hope I can make you proud.”
Don 3 First Look Video Starring Ranveer Singh Has More Dislikes Than Likes
The news of Ranveer Singh replacing Shah Rukh Khan hasn’t been well received by people who were eagerly waiting for the superstar to return to the franchise after so many years. The anger is evident in the number of dislikes the Don 3 video has received, which surpasses the total number of likes. So far, the video has a ratio of 53% dislikes compared to around 50% likes. However, one can hope that Don 3 defies everyone’s expectations and turned out to be good. Apart from Ranveer, Don 3 also stars Kiara Advani in the lead role. The shooting is expected to commence next year and the makers plan to release it in mid-2025.
