Actor Ranveer Singh has taken legal action against a widely-circulated deepfake video featuring him endorsing a political party. The video, which surfaced online, showed Singh criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi on issues like unemployment and inflation and concluded with a call to support the Congress party.
Singh, who recently dazzled as a showstopper alongside Kriti Sanon at designer Manish Malhotra’s fashion show held at Varanasi’s Namo Ghat, shared his spiritual experiences after visiting the Vishwanath temple with Sanon.

While the interview footage of the news agency ANI during their Varanasi visit is authentic, it was revealed that the audio in the deepfake video was artificially generated using AI technology.
Ranveer Singh Has Filed FIR Against His Deepfake Viral Video
Expressing his concern over the spread of deepfakes, Singh had posted on Instagram, “Deepfake se bacho doston (Friends, beware of deepfakes).”
His team has now confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged, and investigations are underway regarding the matter. A spokesperson stated, “Yes, we have filed the police complaint and FIR has been lodged against the handle that was promoting the AI-generated deepfake video of Ranveer Singh.” For the unversed, actor Aamir Khan became the victim of a deepfake video promoting a political party even before Ranveer Singh.
