Ranveer Singh’s Shaktimaan Directed By Basil Joseph Is Not Planned As A Trilogy, “It is just one film at the moment.”

Ranveer Singh, who is known for his versatile and energetic performances, is all set to play the iconic superhero Shaktimaan in a film directed by Basil Joseph. The film, which is a collaboration between Sony Pictures India and Sajid Nadiadwala, is expected to go on floors in May 2025.

Ranveer Singh’s Shaktimaan not being planned as a trilogy

However, contrary to some reports, the film is not going to be a trilogy. A source close to the project revealed to Subhash K Jha, “Basil has been working on this project for more than a year. He wanted to do something completely different with Ranveer in the super-hero space as compared with what Basil did with Tovino Thomas in Minnal Murali. Basil has finally cracked the script, which will be more emotional than action oriented. Of course, Ranveer will fly. But there will be a lot more to it than the cosmetic stereotypes of the superhero genre.”

About the trilogy of Shaktimaan movies with Ranveer, the source said, “That’s absolute rubbish. It is just one film at the moment. Depending on how it is received, they will see how to carry the franchise forward.”

And it’s confirmed that the very talented Malayali director Basil Joseph will direct Shaktimaan.

The OG Shaktimaan starring Mukesh Khanna

Shaktimaan, which was a popular TV series that aired from 1997 to 2005, featured Mukesh Khanna as the titular character, who was a human with superpowers derived from ancient yogic practices. The show was a huge hit among the children and adults alike, and is considered to be India’s first superhero show.

On asking what does the original Shaktimaan Mukesh Khanna, think of the remake?  “Too early to comment,” said Mukesh.
