Dhadak 2 has been delayed, with its new release date likely set for February 21, 2025. Originally scheduled to hit theatres on November 22, 2024, the film’s postponement comes as no surprise, given the packed release schedule in the final months of 2024.
Dhadak 2 Pushed To Early 2025 For THIS Reason
Fresh reports suggest Dharma Productions opted for February, believing it to be a more strategic time for Dhadak 2 to stand out.
A source close to the development told Bollywood Hungama, “Dhadak 2 was earlier slated to release on November 22. It has been postponed and the producers – Dharma Productions – are looking at releasing the film on February 21, 2025. They feel it’s an ideal release date for their film since the two weeks before are crowded with releases.”
The source added, “A final decision will be taken in a few weeks after which Dhadak 2’s new release will be announced.”
This date would land the film’s release just two days before its lead actress, Triptii Dimri, celebrates her birthday.
Triptii Dimri has had an impressive year in 2024, starring in several films, including Animal, Bad Newz, and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. Her upcoming Diwali release Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 adds another major project to her growing portfolio.
Dhadak 2, which marks her first collaboration with Siddhant Chaturvedi, is expected to continue her successful run. Siddhant, known for his roles in Gehraiyaan and Phone Bhoot, will play the male lead alongside Triptii, bringing fresh energy to the highly anticipated film.
Dhadak 2 is not just another love story. It’s a remake of the 2018 Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, a story with a powerful social message. The original Dhadak (2018), starring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, was a remake of the Marathi hit Sairat.
Despite Dhadak being a commercial success, some critics felt it didn’t fully capture the raw impact of the original.
However, Karan Johar, producer of Dhadak 2, assured fans during an interview that this won’t be the case with the sequel. “We haven’t held back at all. It’s as hard-hitting and as solid, without diluting the huge impact of the original,” he said.
Triptii Dimri Starrer Set For Clash With Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2
While the new release date positions Dhadak 2 in a favourable window, it will now clash with Raid 2, starring Ajay Devgn, Vaani Kapoor, and Riteish Deshmukh. The competition will likely intensify as both films target a similar audience, setting up a major box-office showdown in February.
With Dhadak 2 now scheduled for a 2025 release, fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi’s chemistry unfold on the big screen. Will this delayed release prove to be a blessing or a challenge for Dharma Productions? Only time will tell.
