Karan Johar is gearing up for a new venture, this time making his debut in the OTT space with a big-budget Netflix web series. Known for iconic films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, the celebrated director is now ready to take on the digital world.
According to sources, Johar’s next project is a female-led web series that promises to bring together some of Indian cinema’s most popular stars.
This marks Karan’s first collaboration with Netflix. The yet-untitled series is said to be a passion project for Karan, one that he’s been developing with his team for some time.

The script has already been locked, and the project is set to go on floors in early 2025. A source close to the project told Pinkvilla, “After collaborating with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Heeramandi, this Karan Johar directorial is the next marquee project in Netflix’s repertoire. Karan will be the showrunner for this yet untitled web-series. The script is locked and the vision is to take it on floor in the first quarter of 2025″
Netflix sees this collaboration as one of its most ambitious projects to date. The series is expected to be shot throughout 2025, with a planned streaming release in 2026.

Apart from his OTT debut, Karan has also been busy with his theatrical ventures. His next directorial project, after the web series, is expected to be a large-scale action film, which he will begin working on post the completion of the Netflix series.
Meanwhile, his production house, Dharma Productions, has several exciting projects lined up, including Jigra starring Alia Bhatt, a courtroom drama with Akshay Kumar and Ananya Pandey, and Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari, which stars Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor.
