Shahid Kapoor is gearing up for an intense role as the gangster Hussain Ustara in Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming action thriller. This project has fans buzzing, especially as it marks Bhardwaj’s first collaboration with Shahid Kapoor since Rangoon in 2017.
This untitled film is set to begin filming in December. Adding to the excitement is the involvement of Triptii Dimri, who is taking on a revenge-driven character, shaping the film’s powerful narrative.

According to a report by Mid-Day, Shahid’s role is inspired by the notorious gangster Hussain Ustara, who had a fierce rivalry with Dawood Ibrahim.
Preparing for such a challenging role isn’t easy, and Shahid is leaving no stone unturned. He’s undergoing rigorous combat training to ensure his action scenes match the character’s intensity.
A source revealed, “Shahid is undergoing intense combat training to match the demands of the action sequences. Equally important is understanding the mental make-up of a character like Ustara. Vishal sir has been guiding him as he delves deep into Ustara’s motivations, emotions, and mental battles.”
As Shahid focuses on the physical and emotional depth of Ustara, Triptii Dimri, the film’s leading lady, is diving into her own preparations. Her character is reportedly fuelled by revenge, adding to the film’s dramatic weight. A source shared, “Triptii’s role is crucial to the narrative, and her preparation involves getting into the mindset of a character driven by vengeance.”
Triptii has already started her workshops to ensure she delivers a gripping performance. Both actors are currently working on their roles individually, with joint rehearsals expected to start before filming kicks off.
A Biopic Film With Irrfan Khan & Deepika Padukone Was Initially Planned
For Vishal Bhardwaj, this project has been in the works for a long time. Initially, he planned to make a biopic on Sapna Didi, where the late Irrfan Khan was supposed to play Ustara alongside Deepika Padukone. Unfortunately, that project didn’t come to life.
However, with Shahid now stepping into the shoes of the on-screen gangster, Bhardwaj seems to have found the perfect actor to bring his vision to life.
