If Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha is building its world on grit, betrayal and vengeance, its makers just made a smart move by letting audiences first meet the story through tenderness. The film’s first single, “Rubaroo”, is out now, and it leans fully into the ache and innocence of first love, with Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur sharing a soft, lived in chemistry that feels deliberately unhurried.
Released on February 27, 2026 via Sony Music India’s official YouTube channel, the 3 minute 8 second track doubles up as an emotional prologue. The visuals suggest a love that once felt safe, before the narrative turns darker, echoing the film’s core idea of a romance that fractures into something far more volatile.
Rubaroo Sets The Emotional Tone Before The Action Kicks In
“Rubaroo” is sung by Faheem Abdullah and Chinmayi Sripada, with lyrics by Ritesh Rajwada and music composed by Bheems Ceciroleo. In the song’s promo and video, Sesh and Thakur play their moments with a disarming simplicity, trading grand declarations for glances, warmth and a sense of familiarity that sells the “before” in a story clearly headed toward heartbreak.
The team has also been sharing cast quotes around the release. Faheem Abdullah described the recording experience as deeply personal, saying, “When I was recording Rubaroo, I felt like I was stepping into someone’s most vulnerable memory of love, the very inception of it. There’s a tenderness in the melody, but also a depth that lingers. I think listeners will truly feel that.”
Chinmayi Sripada, who recorded the song in two languages, added, “There’s a quiet depth to Rubaroo that I really connected with. Recording it in two languages meant honouring not just the lyrics, but the emotional rhythm of each version.”
Sesh called music “one of the purest ways to communicate emotion,” and said, “Rubaroo captures a kind of love that feels honest and vulnerable.” Thakur summed up the song’s core feeling best: “I’ve always believed that first love has a certain purity to it, and Rubaroo captures that beautifully.”
Dacoit Ek Prem Katha: Cast, Crew, And What’s Confirmed So Far
Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha marks Shaneil Deo’s directorial debut and is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda, co-produced by Suniel Narang, and presented by Annapurna Studios. The film stars Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur, with Anurag Kashyap playing a pivotal role. The project also features Prakash Raj, Sunil, Atul Kulkarni, Zayn Marie Khan, and Kamakshi Bhaskarla.
Shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu, the story and screenplay are by Adivi Sesh and Shaneil Deo. The film is confirmed for a pan-India theatrical release on April 10, 2026.
Adivi Sesh’s Recent And Upcoming Work
Sesh’s recent run includes the action thriller HIT: The Second Case (2022) and the biographical drama Major (2022), both of which strengthened his standing as a leading man with a taste for taut, plot-driven narratives. With Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha arriving on April 10, 2026, he is now pivoting into a more romance-forward emotional space, at least in the film’s first musical chapter, before the larger action drama unfolds on screen.
