Indian film producer Ravi Bhagchandka has joined forces with actor Aamir Khan and Sony Pictures to produce a new sports drama titled Champions. The film is an official remake of the 2018 Spanish film Campeones, which is based on the challenges faced by differently abled individuals and their lives. Bhagchandka, who produced Sachin – A Billion Dreams, revealed that the film is not just about sports, but also has a human-interest story that is both heartwarming and humorous.
The producer further added that the cast of the film will be revealed at a later date. Bhagchandka has a string of other projects lined up under his banner 200 NOTOUT, which is dedicated to Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s highest score of 200 not out in one-day internationals. One of his upcoming projects includes a film adaptation of George McCutcheon’s 1902 book Brewster’s Millions.
Bhagchandka is also planning a political thriller web series based on one of Ashwin Sanghi’s best-selling books, and another film adaptation of the Argentinian bestseller novel, All Yours, which is a co-production with Sagarika Ghatge Khan and is set to be directed by Kanishk Varma. Additionally, the producer is developing a couple of entertaining sports-based reality shows and a sports biopic that is sure to hit it out of the park.
“We have already examined various drafts of the script; it’s shaping up well and we should be able to kick that off soon. Apart from this, we are planning a political thriller web series based on one of Ashwin Sanghi’s best-selling books. In the pipeline is another riveting film adaptation of the Argentinian bestseller novel, All Yours. This film is a co-production with Sagarika Ghatge Khan and is set to be directed by Kanishk Varma of Inside Edge series fame. Besides this, we are also making a couple of entertaining sports-based reality shows which are in very nascent stages and a sports biopic that is sure to hit it out of the park!,” Bhagchandka stated.
The news of Champions has generated buzz among movie enthusiasts and cricket fans alike, as Sachin – A Billion Dreams was widely appreciated for its portrayal of the cricket legend’s journey. With Bhagchandka’s impressive track record and Aamir Khan’s star power, expectations are high for the upcoming sports drama.
