In the latest update on the Saif Ali Khan attack case, a facial recognition test (FRT) has confirmed that the man seen on CCTV during the incident is Shariful, a Bangladeshi national. This news comes as Shariful’s father claims that the Mumbai Police is ‘framing’ his son and plans to challenge the arrest.
Facial Recognition Confirms Shariful’s Involvement In Saif Ali Khan Attack Incident
The FRT (done by Mumbai Police) matched Shariful’s facial features with the person seen in the CCTV footage outside Khan’s home on the night of the attack. The test results suggest Shariful was involved in the incident.
On Wednesday, the Bandra magistrate’s court surprised many by denying the Mumbai Police further custody of Shariful. The court found that there was no new evidence to justify keeping him. Instead, Shariful was sent to judicial remand. The court also questioned the police’s request for more detention time.
Shariful’s father has denied the allegations and insists the Mumbai Police are wrongly accusing his son. He plans to visit the Indian High Commission to protest and seek help, claiming the charges are false.
As the case moves forward, the FRT results add weight to the evidence against Shariful. However, his defence team argues that he is being unfairly targeted. The police have not yet made any public statements on whether they will continue investigating based on the new findings.
