No Breakthrough Yet For Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi As CBFC Clearance Remains Pending

The latest burst of release chatter around Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi has not translated into movement on the ground. The war drama is still awaiting CBFC clearance, and the film remains stuck at the same stage despite fresh social media buzz suggesting that a screening was around the corner.

Latest Update On Cbfc Clearance

Box Office Worldwide has exclusively learned that there is no new relief yet for Maatrubhumi on the certification front. Online claims over the past two days suggested that the film was headed for a CBFC screening next week, but those claims do not reflect the present status of the project.

As of September 15, 2026, the film has not moved forward for certification. The pending hurdle continues to be tied to the film’s China-linked subject matter, and the makers are still working through that issue with the concerned authorities. Until that process is resolved, Maatrubhumi remains off the release runway.

Why The Film Remains Stuck

That unresolved hurdle has defined the journey of Maatrubhumi for months. The film was initially announced as Battle of Galwan and was later rechristened Maatrubhumi. It draws from the 2020 Galwan Valley conflict, a subject that has kept the project under close scrutiny because of its geopolitical sensitivity.

The current delay is not about promotional readiness or release planning. It is about clearance. That distinction is central to where the film stands right now. Industry noise may have briefly reignited hopes of an imminent step forward, but the actual position remains unchanged, with the China-linked content issue still blocking certification.

Maatrubhumi is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and stars Salman Khan, Chitrangda Singh and Ankur Bhatia. IMDb lists the film under its current title and marks it as a 2026 release, while also identifying Salman Khan Films among its production banners.

Salman Khan’s Recent And Upcoming Work

The delay keeps Maatrubhumi firmly at the center of Salman Khan’s current screen slate. His last starring release was Sikandar, which reached theatres on March 30, 2025. That makes Maatrubhumi the key confirmed project carrying his next major big-screen phase, which is why its clearance status is being watched so closely within the trade and by fans alike.

More than a routine title awaiting a date, Maatrubhumi is positioned as a high-stakes Salman Khan film because of its scale, subject and star value. Until the certification logjam is cleared, that conversation does not move to release strategy. It stays exactly where it is now, on the question of clearance.
