Fresh legal movement in the Disha Salian death case has once again pushed several high-profile names into the spotlight, with Sooraj Pancholi now publicly pushing back after a new CBI FIR included his name alongside Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty and others. The latest turn comes nearly six years after Salian’s June 2020 death, and just days after the Bombay High Court directed the central agency to begin a formal probe.
Cbi Probe Reopens Public Focus On The Case
The Central Bureau of Investigation registered the FIR on September 14, 2026, after the Bombay High Court’s September 2 order directing it to investigate the circumstances surrounding Disha Salian’s death. The court also made it clear that the agency must carry out its probe on the basis of evidence and not treat any individual as an accused without sufficient material.
That legal development brought renewed attention to a list of names said to be included in the FIR for investigation, among them Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty, Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi. The FIR marks the formal beginning of the CBI’s fresh investigation into a case that has remained under intense public scrutiny since 2020.
Sooraj Pancholi Issues Strong Public Denial
As his name began circulating again, Pancholi posted a detailed statement denying any connection to Disha Salian and insisting he has never even met her. He wrote, “I have decided to put this out because I feel it is important to put certain facts clearly in the public domain. For the last few years, my name has been dragged into the controversy surrounding the unfortunate demise of late Disha Salian through various media reports and statements. I want to say this out loud and very clear. I have never met late Disha Salian in my life, directly or indirectly. I have also never met Aaditya Thackeray in my life!”
He further added, “It is honestly very unfair and extremely upsetting to see my name being dragged into something that I have absolutely nothing to do with, especially when there is no evidence or proof connecting me to this matter.”
Pancholi also said, “Regarding this matter, I have already been investigated by the CBI/police and my statement was recorded by the agencies almost 4-5 years ago. I have nothing to hide.”
Reiterating his stand on the fresh probe, he wrote, “If any investigating agency feels that they need to question me again or require any further information from me, I am completely willing to cooperate and make myself available for any investigation.”
He also said, “I strongly support a fair and thorough CBI investigation into the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate demise of late Disha Salian.”
Sooraj Pancholi’s Recent And Upcoming Work
On the film front, Pancholi was last seen in Kesari Veer, which released in 2025. The historical drama featured him alongside Suniel Shetty and Vivek Oberoi and marked his return to the big screen after a long gap. Before that, his previous theatrical releases included Satellite Shankar in 2019 and Hero in 2015, the Salman Khan-backed launch vehicle that introduced him as a lead actor.
As of September 15, 2026, one of the projects linked to Pancholi’s upcoming slate is Hawa Singh, which has surfaced in film listings as a future release. With Kesari Veer serving as his most recent confirmed release, Pancholi remains in a phase where his public appearances and statements continue to draw strong attention beyond the screen.
