Pratik Gandhi has been on every Hindi filmmaker’s wishlist since delivering an outstanding performance as stockbroker Harshad Mehta in Hansal Mehta’s critically acclaimed SonyLIV series, Scam 1992. Pratik has already committed to five Hindi projects and is said to be in talks for at least three more. Pratik has already been cast in another another project, which will begin shooting in the middle of next month.
Pratik has now signed a slice-of-life drama named Do Beegha Zameen, according to sources of PeepingMoon. The actor will reportedly play an IIT student in the film, which is about a person who succeeds in life despite failing IIT. This film will be directed by Pulkit Samrat, and Shaailesh R Singh will produce it under his Karma Media & Entertainment.
The film is named after the legendary 1953 Bimal Roy movie, which starred Balraj Sahni and Nirupa Roy. The only thing the two films have in common is the title tells the source. The original Do Bigha Zamin followed a poor farmer who takes up rickshaw driving in order to pay off his debts and save his land.
Do Beegha Zameen is set to begin filming on August 15th in Jhansi, and will be shot in a month-long schedule. Pratik Gandhi will begin filming for this film as soon as Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Disney+Hotstar series Six Suspects, which is presently being shot in Mumbai.
