Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly turned down an offer to star in Maddock Films’ horror-comedy Chamunda, which was set to feature Alia Bhatt. This news comes as a disappointment to fans who had hoped for a collaboration between SRK and the makers of Stree 2.

According to sources, director Amar Kaushik and producer Dinesh Vijan were eager to bring Khan into the project, which is a part of Maddock’s expanding horror-comedy universe.
However, Shah Rukh Khan has chosen to not join the already-established universe. A source shared with Bollywood Hungama, “Shah Rukh Khan didn’t want to enter an already established universe and rather start a new world with Maddock and Amar Kaushik. He has asked the duo to come to him with something fresh and explore a genre never done before.”
This decision means Chamunda won’t feature Khan and the production team is now looking at other names to fill the role. However, they remain hopeful that SRK will work with them on a future project. The source added, “The two are now exploring new names for Chamunda and hoping to team up with Shah Rukh Khan in a couple of years on something fresh.”
Shah Rukh Khan Preps Up For His Next Actioner King
While fans will have to wait longer for a potential collaboration with Maddock and Kaushik, Khan’s fans can still look forward to his upcoming action thriller King.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film will also star Abhishek Bachchan and Suhana Khan, and it’s one of the most highly anticipated releases.

Meanwhile, Maddock Films has other horror-comedy projects lined up for release this year, including Thama starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, and Shakti Shalini featuring Kiara Advani. These films are expected to keep the momentum going for the studio’s successful genre blend.
