Shah Rukh Khan Starrer ‘Pathaan’ Set To Become The First Bollywood Film To Hit Theatres In Nearly 8 Years In Bangladesh

The ban was removed temporarily in 2015 and the Salman Khan-starrer Wanted (2009) were the first Indian film that witnessed a release in Bangladesh.

Pathaan’ released on January 25, 2023, which is full of drama and action directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Aditya Chopra. It stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone in lead roles and will have John Abraham as antagonist. It showcases an undercover police official and drug lord. Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani have worked on its music. It released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu.

The latest bollywood news is that it becomes the Bollywood film to be released in Bangladesh after nearly 8 years. For the unversed, there has been a prohibition on Indian films in Bangladesh for over 5 decades. The ban was removed temporarily in 2015 and the Salman Khan-starrer Wanted (2009) were the first Indian film that witnessed a release in Bangladesh.

Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots released in 2009 and Shah Rukh Khan’s My Name Is Khan (2010) had also hit the theatres at the time in Bangladesh. However, due to the protests and chaos on this from the local film industry, the prohibition was re-imposed. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Bollywood buffs went on to catch the new releases on pirated prints.

Pathaan’s Box-office Update

YRF announced that ‘Pathaan’ tickets will be priced at 110 INR on 4th Friday in order to boost collections as Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Shehzada’ and Marvel’s ‘Antman’ will be releasing. Then it was flat 200 INR on Saturday and Sunday.

Yesterday and day before yesterday with flat 200 INR, film ran riot at box office. It has crossed 9.50 cr nett over weekend and very close to 497 cr nett. Film will also cross 500 cr nett Hindi and 1000 cr worldwide gross too by end of 4th week
