Shanaya Kapoor is ready to make her big Bollywood debut. The 24-year-old daughter of Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor will star opposite Vikrant Massey in the romantic drama Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan.
Shanaya Kapoor To Play A Theatre Actress In Her Debut Bollywood Film
According to Peeping Moon, it is based on Ruskin Bond’s short story The Eyes Have It. This film will see Shanaya play a theatre actress & Vikrant take as a blind musician. The two characters embark on a heartfelt journey of love, self-discovery, and resilience.
This project comes as a major step for Shanaya, whose Bollywood debut has been long-awaited. Initially, she was supposed to be launched by Karan Johar in Bedhadak and later in Disney+Hotstar’s Student of the Year series.
However, both projects faced delays, with Bedhadak reportedly shelved. Now, Shanaya has secured her Bollywood break with Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, marking a significant moment in her acting career.
This role follows her participation in the upcoming Telugu-Malayalam film Vrushabha, which is set to release early next year.
Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan To Be Directed By Santosh Singh
Directed by Santosh Singh, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan is adapted from a script penned by Niranjan Iyenger and Mansi Bagla. Singh, who has directed web series like Broken But Beautiful and Apharan, brings his expertise to this romantic tale, which explores themes like perception, memory, and independence, all set to a musical backdrop. Singh replaced Iyenger, who was initially set to direct the film, but now focuses solely on the script.
Tara Sutaria & Alaya F Were Considered Before Shanaya Kapoor
The movie will be produced by Mini Films’ Mansi Bagla and Varun Bagla, marking their second collaboration with Vikrant after the 2022 Forensic remake. The team had reportedly considered other actresses like Tara Sutaria and Alaya F. before settling on Shanaya, who has been patiently waiting for her Bollywood debut for three years.
The Eyes Have It, the story the film is based on, is a beloved Ruskin Bond tale with ironic twists, making it an intriguing source material.
The movie promises to delve deep into themes like willpower, desire, and confidence, giving audiences a touching love story. With its mix of romance, drama, and introspection, it’s sure to captivate viewers.
Makers To Begin Shooting Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan Soon WithMid-2025 Release Planned
The film will begin shooting later this month in Mussoorie, with additional locations in Mumbai and Europe. It is eyeing a mid-2025 release.
As for Vikrant Massey, he has a busy schedule ahead, currently shooting for Rajkumar Hirani’s Disney+Hotstar web series and preparing for his upcoming film The Sabarmati Report, which releases on November 15.
