The much-anticipated comedy Son of Sardaar 2, starring Ajay Devgn, is currently in production in London. However, the film has already encountered its first major controversy. The film’s producers, including Ajay Devgn and co-producer Kumar Mangat Pathak, have made the surprising decision to remove actor Vijay Raaz from the cast due to alleged misconduct on set.
Sources close to the development told Pinkvilla that Vijay Raaz had been causing difficulties for the production team from the moment he signed on for the film. Issues reportedly began in Mumbai and continued once the crew arrived in the UK for filming.
Vijay Raaz OUSTED From Son Of Sardaar 2 Due To Alleged Misconduct
Kumar Mangat Pathak revealed that Raaz had made several unreasonable demands, including requests for larger rooms, premium suites, and extra cars for his staff. The situation escalated when Raaz allegedly became rude to the executive producer and other members of the crew when his demands were not met.
Pathak stated, “Yes, it’s true that we have removed Vijay Raaz from the film because of his behaviour on the sets. He demanded bigger rooms, a vanity van, and also overcharged us for the spot boys. In fact, his spot boy was paid Rs. 20,000 per night, which is more than any big actor. UK is an expensive place, and everyone got standard rooms during the shoot, but he demanded premium suites.”
He added, “When we tried explaining the costing scenario to him, he refused to understand, and spoke rudely. His constant response was, ‘Aap Logo Ne Mujhe Approach Kiya, Main Kaunsa Saamne Se Aya Kaam Mangne’. While we tried to accommodate all his demands, the behaviour kept getting worse, as his demands never ended. He started to demand two cars for a 3-person staff to travel for as well. How can we do that? When the EP said no, he was rude to the EP (Executive Producer). After all the discussions, we decided to remove him from the film.”
Vijay Raaz REFUTES The Claims Of Makers
Raaz, however, offered a different perspective on the situation. He claimed that his removal from the film was due to a misunderstanding involving Ajay Devgn. Raaz explained that he had arrived on set early and did not greet Devgn immediately, which he believes led to his dismissal.
“The only misconduct from my end is that I didn’t greet Mr. Ajay Devgn. I was removed from the film 30 minutes after reaching the set because I didn’t greet Ajay Devgn,” Raaz said.
Kumar Mangat Pathak refuted this claim, insisting that the decision to remove Raaz was not based on this incident but on his overall behaviour. “Ajay Devgn isn’t someone who is waiting to be greeted by people,” Pathak said. “He always likes to be surrounded by creative people and treats everyone with respect. The story of him being removed for not greeting Ajay Devgn is false. We suffered a loss of at least two crores for removing Vijay Raaz from the film, and we would not take such a step for small matters.”
Shockingly, it was also revealed that Raaz’s spot boy had allegedly been involved in a separate incident of sexual misconduct at the hotel where the crew was staying. Although Raaz denied any involvement in this incident, it has added to the tension surrounding the actor’s departure from the film.
“These are two different stories, and there is a difference of at least 10 hours between the two episodes. I have nothing to do with it, but I don’t encourage such behaviour,” Raaz clarified.
Kumar Mangat Pathak expressed relief at the decision to remove Raaz from the film. “His staff is his responsibility,” he said.
“Imagine working with such a demon in the team. We got an official e-mail from the hotel. Strict action will be taken against all offenders. As I said, we are happy to disassociate with Vijay Raaz, and we don’t wish to work with such a person,” he added.
After Raaz’s departure, Sanjay Mishra has been brought in to replace him in Son of Sardaar 2. The film, which features a star-studded cast including Ravi Kishan, Mrunal Thakur, Sanjay Dutt, and others, continues its production in the UK.
