A decade after its debut, Son Of Sardaar is gearing up for a sequel, Son Of Sardaar 2. The film was set to bring back Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt for another epic showdown. However, recent reports reveal a major cast change. Sanjay Dutt has been replaced by actor-politician Ravi Kishan.
Son Of Sardaar 2 Makers REPLACE Sanjay Dutt By Ravi Kishan Due To THIS Major Issue
The shift in casting stems from complications with Sanjay Dutt’s UK visa application. According to a report by Mid-day, Sanjay’s application was denied due to his previous incarceration.
The source explained, “Ever since his arrest in 1993, while Sanju has travelled to the US, he has applied for a UK visa multiple times, but never got one. The Son Of Sardaar 2 shoot would have been his first trip to the UK. However, after Ajay’s team found out that the senior actor’s visa request had been rejected, they replaced him with Ravi Kishan.”
Will Sanjay Dutt Also Get Replaced In Housefull 5?
This visa issue could also impact Sanjay’s involvement in other projects. Housefull 5, another big film set to be shot in London, might face similar problems. However, the source added, “Sajid Nadiadwala has chosen a wiser route. While the shooting with the cast begins in London, all of Sanju’s portions will be filmed in Mumbai. So, there are no issues on that front.”
Sanjay Dutt’s legal troubles began in April 1993 when he was arrested under TADA and the Arms Act for possessing illegal weapons linked to the 1993 Bombay bombings. He was sentenced to five years in prison, a sentence upheld by the Supreme Court in March 2013. After multiple bails, Dutt completed his sentence in 2016.
In Son Of Sardaar 2, Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt were set to reprise their roles as Billu and Jassi. The sequel was expected to start afresh, rather than continuing from where the first film ended. The new storyline aimed to add an antagonistic edge to Sanjay’s character, which will now be portrayed by Ravi Kishan.
