Now, an entertainment website has revealed that SRK and Rajkumar Hirani’s highly awaited film isn’t a typical Bollywood social drama, but rather tackles a larger immigration issue. The yet-untitled film is focused on the problem of “donkey flight,” an illegal backdoor route that has emerged as a popular escape route for Indians wishing to immigrate to the United States and Canada.

“Donkey flight is referred to as the illegal method of entering a foreign country via multiple stops in other countries. It’s a popular method adopted by thousands of youngsters every year after they fail to enter the target country via legitimate means. Hirani’s film deals with this wide subject in his trademark style with a narrative filled with emotional as well as light-hearted moments. It’s a story of a Punjabi guy and his arduous journey of immigration to Canada,” a source close to the development told PeepingMoon.

The film depicts the illegal entry of Indian Punjabis into Canada, as well as how travel firms set up complex traps to entice young people seeking a better life abroad. Thousands of young people flee the Punjab region each year to seek better living conditions and employment opportunities in Canada and other developed countries, using schemes devised by well-funded illegal immigration agencies that employ creative methods to exploit every possible loophole in existing policies and visa systems.

The name “donkey flight” comes from a Punjabi proverb that means “to hop from one area to another.” It refers to a common scenario in which would-be immigrants apply for a tourist visa in a European Union Schengen country. This visa allows people to travel freely inside Europe’s border-free zone, with the intention of crossing into the United Kingdom and Canada.
