As we all know, director SS Rajamouli and actor Mahesh Babu are joining forces for SSMB 29. This ambitious project is set to become one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema with a jaw-dropping Rs 1000 crore budget.
SSMB 29 Has Been Planned As A Two-Part Saga
SSMB 29 promises to be more than a blockbuster. It combines a jungle adventure with elements of thrill and espionage. A Pinkvilla report suggests that the screenplay is complete and production will kick off in April 2025. The film will be released in two parts, with the first scheduled for 2027 and the second in 2029.
It was recently revealed that Priyanka Chopra will star alongside Mahesh Babu, marking her return to Bollywood. Prithviraj Sukumaran has been cast as the main antagonist. The casting process is still ongoing, and SS Rajamouli is in talks with other top talents to complete the ensemble.
Actor-Director Secure A No Salary Profit-Sharing Deal
SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu have taken an unconventional route with their payment structure. They have decided on a profit-sharing model instead of traditional salaries.
A source revealed to Pinkvilla, “Rajamouli trusts his craft, and Mahesh Babu is confident in his stardom. They’ve agreed to a 40% profit-sharing arrangement to avoid burdening the project with hefty fees. Their aim is to create a cinematic legacy for audiences worldwide.”
The film’s budget is a massive Rs 1000 crore and makes it India’s most expensive film to date. This amount surpasses the budgets of other big projects like Pushpa 2 and Ramayana and more.
SSMB 29 Will Be Rajamouli’s Final Collaboration With Producers
SSMB 29 will also mark Rajamouli’s last project with external producers. A source explained, “Rajamouli had committed to making films for producers DVV. Danayya and Narayana KL. years ago, and he chose to honour those commitments. After SSMB 29, he plans to work as a solo producer & partner directly with global studios.”
The team is reportedly in talks with major international studios like Sony and Disney, hinting at potential global collaborations.
