The debate over who deserves credit for Stree 2’s success has turned into a national hot topic. As actors largely kept mum, Aparshakti Khurana stoked the fires with his remarks about the film’s credit war.
Director Amar Kaushik has now revealed that he confronted Khurana about his controversial statement.
Stree 2 Director Amar Kaushik THIS About Aparshakti Khurana’s Controversial Comment
In a recent chat with Zoom, Khurana suggested that the whole credit issue was being manipulated by PR tactics. He said, “Main ispe kuch bolunga, baat khulegi toh door tak jaayegi,” meaning if he spoke up, things would get complicated. This remark sparked a frenzy.
Kaushik shared with the same outlet that the cast had a group video call where they laughed off the controversy. “I even called Aparshakti after his statement. I asked him, ‘What was that?’”
Kaushik said. Khurana’s response was that his comment wasn’t intended seriously. “I always laugh when I say such things. This time, I just forgot to laugh and it became serious,” Khurana explained.
When pressed further, Khurana said, “I was just talking and didn’t mean to make it a big issue.”
Director Calls Aparshakti ‘Genuine & Straightforward’
Kaushik defended Khurana, saying he is genuine and straightforward, even if his remarks sometimes come off as blunt. “He won’t bottle it up,” Kaushik noted, adding that Khurana was merely caught in the middle of fan-driven drama.
Kaushik dismissed the ongoing debate as “fan-created controversy” that inadvertently benefited the film’s success.
The discussion continues to rage, with viewers split on whether the acclaim should go to Rajkummar Rao or Shraddha Kapoor. Meanwhile, the rest of the cast, including Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Khurana, all played crucial roles in the film’s success.
So, was Khurana’s PR game comment off the mark, or should Stree 2’s success be shared among the entire cast? The debate is far from over.
