Stree 2 Actor Abhishek Banerjee Reveals How He Landed A Role In Amar Kaushik’s Film, Says He Reminded The Director Of Amrish Puri – Here’s Why!

Stree 2 actor Abhishek Banerjee revealed how he landed a role in the film during a recent interview. Check out what he said!

Abhishek Banerjee, who’s currently enjoying praise for his roles in Stree 2 and Vedaa, recently shared how he landed these contrasting roles. Both films, which hit cinemas on August 15, showcase Banerjee in entirely different avatars.

In a candid chat with ANI, Abhishek revealed his journey with Stree 2, a franchise that has been a massive success under the direction of Amar Kaushik. The actor admitted that approaching big directors has always made him shy, but he took a chance with Amar Kaushik.

Here’s How Abhishek Banerjee Landed A Role In Stree 2

“Amar Kaushik ji is one of the most visionary filmmakers of our time. I was always too shy to approach big directors, but one day, I told him to keep me in mind for a role in his future projects,” Banerjee shared.

After his performance as a dark villain in a film by Devashish Makhija, Kaushik complimented Banerjee, telling him, “You reminded me of Amrish Puri ji.” For Banerjee, that was a huge compliment, and it became a turning point in his career.

When Stree was in the making, Banerjee reminded Kaushik about their conversation, which eventually landed him the role.

Actor Was Initially HESITANT To Play The Role Of Jana

Interestingly, when Amar Kaushik initially offered him the role of Jana in Stree 2, Abhishek was hesitant. “He offered me the role of Jana. I refused at first because I’m from Delhi, and I usually look for roles with a bit of attitude, like the one in Vedaa. But Amar ji saw something in me that I hadn’t noticed—a goofiness and sweetness. He insisted I play Jana, and that’s how I got the opportunity to portray such a wonderful character,” Banerjee explained.

On His Role In Vedaa & Experience Working With John Abraham

Abhishek also opened up about how he secured his role in Vedaa, where he stars alongside John Abraham. Banerjee had been eager to work with director Nikkhil Advani for years, and persistence paid off.

“I met Nikkhilji at some events and told him I wanted to discuss work. I asked him to invite me to his office sometime. He said he would, but he never did. Then I met him somewhere else and reminded him again. Eventually, he called me. It was a Sunday, and there was no one in his office. That’s when he told me the story of Vedaa, and I knew I had to do this film,” Banerjee recalled.

The actor also shared his thoughts on working alongside an action star like John Abraham. “Standing alongside a big action star like John Abraham on screen is a huge responsibility. I didn’t want the audience to feel like the villain was weak or disappointing. I saw this as both a great learning opportunity and a big challenge, to convince the audience that I could overpower John’s character, even without building a big physique,” he added.

Vedaa features John Abraham and Sharvari in lead roles, with direction by Nikkhil Advani and a script by Aseem Arrora. Produced by Zee Studios, Umesh Kr Bansal, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, and John Abraham, with Minnakshi Das as co-producer, the film has generated significant buzz.

About Stree 2

Meanwhile, in Stree 2, Abhishek reprises his role as Jana, joining Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurrana, Shraddha Kapoor, and Pankaj Tripathi in the much-anticipated sequel. Despite facing competition from Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa at the Box Office on 15 August, Stree 2 quickly emerged as the top choice for moviegoers, outshining its competitors by a wide margin.
