Rajkummar Rao Suggested The Title ‘Stree’ Which Was Preferred Due To THIS Reason
In an earlier interview with PTI, Rajkummar Rao shared that he was the one who came up with the name Stree. He recalled that when directors Raj & DK first presented the script, the film had a different title.
During their discussion, Rajkummar suggested the name Stree because he found it “catchy.” The name stuck and became closely associated with the movie’s success.

To mark the six-year journey of Stree, Maddock Films posted a nostalgic video on Instagram, showcasing memorable scenes from the movie. Celebrating 6 Years of Stree!” Fans quickly embraced the post, reflecting on the film’s impact.

Directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan alongside Raj & DK, Stree is set in the fictional town of Chanderi, which is haunted by the spirit of a woman who kidnaps men at night.
Rajkummar’s character, Vicky, teams up with his friends to solve the mystery, with Shraddha Kapoor playing a mysterious woman central to the plot. The film also stars Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi in key roles.
The music of Stree was a big hit, with songs like “Milegi Milegi” and “Kamariya” becoming fan favourites.
Stree 2 Winning Hearts After Stree
Now, with Stree 2 released on August 15, 2024, the excitement has only grown. The sequel continues from where the first film left off and introduces a new villain, Sarkata.
The original cast returns, with cameo appearances by Varun Dhawan, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Akshay Kumar, adding more star power to the Maddock Supernatural Universe.
Directed again by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande, continuing the successful partnership that made the first film a major hit. The film has already crossed Rs 450 cr in India and inching closer to Rs 500 cr mark.
