Aamir Khan is preparing for a major year in 2025 with several exciting projects as both an actor and a producer. One of the most eagerly awaited films on his list is Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and starring Sunny Deol.
The film, which is set during India’s partition, is expected to release in August 2025. Aamir chose this release date strategically, believing the film’s timing will align perfectly with the holiday season, as the events in the film coincide with the anniversary of the partition in August 1947.

Currently, Lahore 1947 is in the editing phase. Early reactions have been positive, particularly for its dramatic storyline and large-scale moments featuring Sunny Deol.
As per a Pinkvilla report, A source close to the project shared that Aamir is eager to release the film in August 2025. However, the final release date will be confirmed once the editing process is completed.
Aamir Khan Discusses Unique Digital Premiere Models With YouTube
The report further reveals that Aamir is also exploring new ways of releasing films. Recently, he has been in talks with YouTube heads in both the US and India, discussing innovative ways to premiere his films. Known for his creative approach to filmmaking, Aamir is reportedly against using traditional streaming platforms.
Instead, he is considering a partnership with YouTube, which could involve direct-to-digital releases, post-theatrical streaming, or even a pay-per-view model. However, Aamir has not yet decided on the final plan for how his films will be released on YouTube.
A source revealed that Aamir plans to revolutionise the digital space by bringing his films to YouTube. While he had previously secured a Rs 70 crore deal for Lahore: 1947 with another company, he has now decided to return the sum and explore the possibilities with YouTube for his entire slate of films. This decision could significantly change how films are distributed and offer new viewing experiences for audiences.
Beyond producing, Aamir is also making sure Lahore: 1947 reaches its full potential. After completing the shoot, he called Sunny Deol back for additional scenes to enhance the film’s impact. Once filming is wrapped up, Deol will head to Kashmir to begin work on Border 2.
