The 15th edition of The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2024 has revealed its nominations, recognising Shah Rukh Khan for his stellar performances. The festival, running from August 15 to 25, sees SRK nominated for Best Actor for his roles in Jawan and Dunki. Both films also earned nominations for Best Film.
Jawan captivated audiences worldwide with its thrilling action and adventure, breaking box office records. Similarly, Dunki left a significant mark globally, setting new benchmarks for success.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Dunki stars Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, and Boman Irani. It has been praised for its compelling storyline and outstanding performances, securing a Best Film nomination. Rajkumar Hirani is also up for Best Director for his work on Dunki.

Since their releases on September 7, 2023, and December 21, 2023, respectively, both films have achieved significant box office success. This year’s
festival will feature a range of films, digital series, and talents from India, offering a global platform for Indian cinema.

Shah Rukh Khan headlines the Best Actor category, followed by Vikrant Massey, Fahadh Faasil, Vicky Kaushal, Kartik Aaryan, Mithun Chakraborty, Mammootty, Diljit Dosanjh and others in the contenders list.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt leads the Best Actress category, contending with talents like Jyothika, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and emerging stars from Laapataa Ladies, Nitanshi Goel, and Pratibha Ranta.
The Best Film category showcases cinematic brilliance across languages, including titles like 12th Fail, Amar Singh Chamkila, Chandu Champion, Dunki, Jawan, Maharaja, Premalu, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
The Critics’ Choice for Best Film features standout entries such as Dear Jassi, Girls Will Be Girls, Kaathal – The Core, Kabuliwala, Laapataa Ladies, Rapture, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello – Side A, and Thadavu (The Sentence).
OTT shows also feature prominently, with nominations spanning various languages and genres. From the gripping storytelling of Dhootha in Telugu to the evocative narratives of Heeramandi in Hindi, each series brings its own unique charm. Made in Heaven 2 and Panchayat Season 3 have earned praise for their nuanced storytelling and strong performances. Meanwhile, Poacher captivates with its Malayalam flavour, and The Railway Men adds depth to the Hindi lineup.
The Best Actor category for OTT features talents like Arjun Mathur from Made in Heaven 2, Babil Khan from The Railway Men, Gulshan Devaiah in Guns & Gulaabs, Jitendra Kumar in Panchayat Season 3, Naveen Chandra in Inspector Rishi, R. Madhavan from The Railway Men, Roshan Mathew in Poacher, and Suvinder Vicky in Kohrra.
Best Actress nominees include Harleen Sethi for Kohrra, Karishma Tanna for Scoop, Neena Gupta in Panchayat Season 3, Nimisha Sajayan in Poacher, Parvathy Thiruvothu for Dhootha, Shriya Pilgaonkar in The Broken News 2, and Sobhita Dhulipala for Made in Heaven 2.
This lineup celebrates the diversity and excellence in storytelling and acting across the vibrant spectrum of OTT entertainment.
The IFFM 2024 Awards winners will be announced during the festival’s gala night on August 16th at Melbourne’s iconic Palais Theatre.
