Telangana HC Limits Children’s Cinema Hours Following Petitions Around Pushpa 2 & Game Changer
The court’s decision follows petitions concerning the popular Telugu films Pushpa 2: The Rule and Game Changer. The petitions raised concerns about the growing number of odd-hour shows, high ticket prices, and the potential harm these screenings could cause to young viewers. As a result, the court has imposed new time limits to protect children.
The issue of late-night screenings became more urgent after a tragic incident at Sandhya Cinema during the premiere of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule in December.
A stampede broke out, bringing attention to the dangers of odd-hour and benefit shows, which were held between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. In response, the court previously banned these types of shows. Now, this latest ruling strengthens its commitment to child safety by preventing minors from attending films at risky hours.
New Rule To Be Applied On All The Upcoming Releases
Justice Reddy clarified that the new restrictions will apply to all films, not just those named in the petitions. The court is focused on ensuring that young audiences are not exposed to potentially dangerous situations, particularly during late-night screenings.
This decision is an important step towards safer cinema practices and protecting young moviegoers.
