Rajinikanth is thrilled to reunite with his esteemed co-star and mentor, Amitabh Bachchan. The megastars, last seen together in the 1991 film Hum, are teaming up again for Thalaivar 170, an upcoming project by Lyca Productions, directed by TJ Gnanavel.
Taking to Twitter, Rajinikanth shared a photo from the sets of Thalaivar 170 alongside Bachchan. Rajinikanth, sporting a white shirt and a wig, stands beside Bachchan, who rocks a pink and blue jacket and oversized glasses.

Fans showered admiration for the duo’s reunion, with one commenting, “This is #Thalaivar @rajinikanth, See His Respect towards his Senior. The Reason Behind Ruling Tamil Cinema for the last 5 Decades,” while another added, “Respect always goes higher whenever Rajini sir speaks 🙂 What a human being he is! Thalaiva for a reason.”
Rajinikanth starts shooting for Thalaivar 170 on May 2, kicking off with scenes alongside Bachchan at St Xavier’s College in Fort, Mumbai. Reportedly, filming continued into the late afternoon, with additional sequences planned until 6 pm. Tight security measures were in place to manage fan frenzy as the production moved to Thakur College in Kandivali for further filming, with the duo’s combination scenes scheduled for this week.
Amitabh Bachchan In Thalaivar 170
Lyca Productions had previously announced Bachchan’s involvement in Thalaivar 170, marking his collaboration with Rajinikanth once more. The film also stars Fahadh Faasil and Rana Daggubati.
Speaking about Amitabh Bachchan, the megastar is gearing up for the release of his film Kalki 2898 AD alongside Prabhas and Deepika Padukone. On the other hand, Rajinikanth Is expected to work on Jailer 2 next.
