The GOAT Box Office: Vijay’s Film Hits Rs 162 Crore In A Four-Day Extended 1st Weekend, Breaks Tamil Nadu Records BUT Leo Still Leads

GOAT hits the box office with a bang, breaking records with a Rs 162 crore four-day haul, though it still trails behind Leo in Tamil Nadu.

The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) has made a massive impact at the Indian box office over its extended four-day weekend. Starring Thalapathy Vijay, the film grossed approximately Rs 39 crore on Sunday alone. This brings its total earnings to around Rs 162 crore in India, a remarkable feat for any film.

The GOAT Remains Behind LEO Despite Record-Breaking Collections In Tamil Nadu

In Tamil Nadu, The GOAT made headlines with a Sunday collection of Rs 27.50 crore. This impressive figure pushed its four-day total to over Rs 100 crore, making it one of the fastest films to hit this milestone. It joins Vijay’s previous hit, Leo, as one of the fastest films to reach the century mark.

However, Leo still holds the record for the highest-grossing film in Tamil Nadu, with a total of Rs 110.75 crore from its opening weekend. The difference between the two films is notable, with Leo having a stronger first day, although The GOAT has matched Leo‘s performance from Friday to Sunday.

Despite The GOAT‘s impressive start, it trails behind Leo in the Tamil Nadu box office rankings. The gap is expected to widen slightly, as Leo benefited from holidays on Monday and Tuesday, which boosted its numbers.

However, The GOAT‘s positive performance suggests it has a solid chance of catching up, especially if it maintains strong numbers in the weeks to come. The key will be securing a strong collection on Monday, with early pre-sales indicating this is achievable.

Thalapathy Vijay’s Film Performs Well In Other Regions

In Karnataka, The GOAT performed well, grossing Rs 21 crore over the weekend. The Hindi dubbed version of the film also did notably well, pulling in Rs 11.50 crore despite minimal marketing.

However, the film faced challenges in Kerala and the Telugu states, where it fell short of expectations. In these regions, The GOAT managed only around Rs 20 crore combined, compared to Leo‘s Rs 60 crore in the same period.

The Goat India Box Office Collection (1st Weekend)

Region Gross Collection
Tamil Nadu Rs. 106.75 cr
Karnataka Rs. 21.00 cr
Kerala Rs. 10.50 cr
Andhra Pradesh/Telangana Rs. 9.75 cr
Hindi Belt Rs. 14.00 cr
Total Rs. 162.00 cr

Overall, the standout performer for The GOAT has been Tamil Nadu, where the film has set new records and driven significant box office numbers.

About The Film

The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) is a Tamil sci-fi action film directed by Venkat Prabhu. Thalapathy Vijay stars in dual roles, with Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, and Mohan also featured.

The plot follows Gandhi, a former anti-terrorism leader, who is called back into action when an old enemy seeks revenge. As Gandhi and his team face their past, the film delivers intense action and dramatic moments.

With a massive budget of Rs 400 crore, GOAT is one of the priciest Indian films ever made. Despite some mixed reviews, Vijay’s performance, the action scenes, and the climax have been praised.

The film has broken several box office records, including the highest first-day gross for a Tamil film in 2024.
