Jackie Shroff’s The Great Grand Superhero Opens To Warm Audience Response, Underdog Film Finds Its Emotional Spark

A grandfather in a cape was never going to be a routine superhero image, and that is exactly why Jackie Shroff’s The Great Grand Superhero has begun its theatrical journey with a flavour of surprise. Released in cinemas today, May 29, 2026, the film is drawing early affection for its family first storytelling, gentle humour and a fantasy premise rooted in emotion rather than spectacle alone.

At the centre of the chatter is Jackie Shroff, who steps into the role of a grandfather superhero with the easy warmth that has kept him beloved across generations. The film, initially viewed as an underdog in the release calendar, is finding its first wave of support through audience word of mouth around its innocence, nostalgia and childlike sense of wonder.

The Great Grand Superhero Wins Early Audience Warmth

The strongest conversation around The Great Grand Superhero has been its emotional core. The film brings together fantasy, aliens, childhood imagination and the bond between a grandfather and grandson, while its appeal lies in how simply it treats family emotions.

Jackie had earlier summed up the spirit of the film in a press note, saying, “With The Great Grand Superhero, we’re fulfilling every child’s dream. If your spirit stays young and your spine stays strong till 90, that itself makes you a superhero. Kids’ dreams should always come first.”

That sentiment is now reflected in the film’s reception. The young actors have also become a key talking point, with their natural screen presence giving the story a sense of authenticity. The supporting ensemble adds humour and familiarity, helping the film stay within the zone of wholesome family entertainment.

A Family Fantasy Backed By Zee Studios And Amdavad Films

The Great Grand Superhero, also listed as The Great Grand Superhero: Aliens Ka Aagman, is written and directed by three time National Award winning filmmaker Manish Saini. The film is produced by Zee Studios and Amdavad Films.

The cast includes Jackie Shroff, Prateik Smita Patil, Bhagyashree, Sharat Saxena, Mihir Godbole, Durgesh Kumar, Sahaarsh Shuklaa, Shivansh Chorge and Kumar Saurabh. The story follows a child’s imagination as it transforms the grandfather grandson relationship into a fantasy adventure involving aliens, heroism and emotional discovery.
