Actor Vikrant Massey, riding high on the success of his latest film 12th Fail, has revealed his next big project. Titled The Sabarmati Report, this upcoming film delves into the tragic incident of the Sabarmati Express burning in Godhra, Gujarat, which occurred 22 years ago on February 22, 2002.
Following the teaser release, the filmmakers have now officially announced the much-anticipated release date. Earlier it was planned to release on May 3.
Promising to uncover previously undisclosed details surrounding the events of 22 years ago, The Sabarmati Report is set to hit screens on August 2, 2024. Balaji Motion Pictures, while submitting the film for certification, faced a suggestion to reconsider the release date owing to potential conflicts with Indian election laws. Consequently, the decision has been made to unveil the film on August 2, 2024.
Makers of the film recently shared an update on the release date and wrote, “Re-opening files of The Sabarmati Report, in cinemas on 2nd August!”

Inspired by the real-life tragedy of the 2002 Sabarmati Express fire, the film follows Vikrant Massey as Samar Kumar, a determined Hindi journalist. Teaming up with fellow reporter Raashi Khanna and senior anchor Ridhi Dogra, they delve into the Godhra incident, challenging the official narrative of an accident and uncovering a deeper truth they believe to be an attack on pilgrims.

Produced by Ekta Kapoor, The Sabarmati Report brings together a stellar cast, with Vikrant Massey leading the pack, fresh from the success of 12th Fail. Joining him is Raashi Khanna, making her Hindi film debut after earning accolades for her work in Farzi. Rounding out the ensemble is Ridhi Dogra, known for her role in Jawan.
