After Silambarasan TR, Ali Fazal is the next one to have joined ‘Ulaganayagan’ Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life. Yes! You read that right.
Director Mani Ratnam is currently immersed in his ambitious project, Thug Life, featuring renowned actors Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan in pivotal roles. During the film’s shooting schedule in Delhi, Ali Fazal has officially joined the ensemble cast. He expressed his joy at being part of Mani Ratnam’s cinematic venture.
In an interview with Variety, Fazal expressed his excitement about collaborating with the esteemed filmmaker and the versatile talent Kamal Haasan.

Ali Fazal enthusiastically shared his eagerness to contribute meaningfully to the narrative of Thug Life. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam, considering it an honour to collaborate with two icons of Indian cinema. Fazal appreciated Mani Sir’s trust in him and expressed his eagerness to portray his character convincingly on screen.
He stated, “It is also an honour to work alongside Kamal Haasan sir and share notes with him on this. The opportunity to collaborate with two stalwarts of Indian cinema has been humbling. I’m deeply grateful to Mani Sir for entrusting me with this role and am eager to bring it to life on screen.”
About Thug Life
Thug Life, penned by Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan, is jointly produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies. The ensemble cast includes acclaimed actors such as Trisha Krishnan, Dulquer Salmaan, Jayam Ravi, Joju George, Gautham Kartik, and Aishwarya Lekshmi.
Ali Fazal’s Work Front
On the professional front, Ali Fazal’s recent appearance was in Vishal Bhardwaj’s espionage thriller Khufiya, alongside Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi. Based on Amar Bhushan’s novel Escape to Nowhere, the Netflix film received critical acclaim.
Fazal’s upcoming project is the highly anticipated web series Mirzapur 3, scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video. He will reprise his role as Guddu Bhaiya in the series, although the makers are yet to announce an official release date.
