The wait is nearly over for fans of Thug Life. The first single from Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s much-hyped gangster drama is finally arriving. Titled “Jinguchaa”, the track drops on April 18 and promises a high-energy vibe. The film also stars Silambarasan in a key role & will hit cinemas on June 5.
Thug Life First Single ‘Jinguchaa’ Drops Tomorrow
On Wednesday, the makers shared a fresh poster teasing the single’s release. It shows Kamal and Silambarasan seemingly in celebration mode, hinting at a wedding-themed dance number. Actor Silambarasan confirmed this with a quirky post: “The Thugs sing and dance conquering the wedding floor.”
Despite being one of the most anticipated Tamil films of 2025, Thug Life has remained mysterious. Updates from the team have been few and far between – usually limited to festive greetings or cryptic social media drops. But this new announcement has fans buzzing again.
Back in February, Kamal and Trisha Krishnan made an appearance at the FICCI event in Chennai. When asked about his role in Thug Life, Kamal kept his lips sealed. Jokingly, he said he didn’t want Mani Ratnam calling him out for leaking any spoilers. When asked if his character is good or evil, he laughed it off. Trisha shared, “Even after watching the film, the audience might not be sure. Kamal agreed and said, “Good and bad are two sides of the same coin.”
This has sparked comparisons with Nayakan, Kamal and Mani’s iconic 1987 crime drama. That film also left audiences debating the morality of the lead character, and Thug Life seems to be playing in the same moral grey area.
More About The Film
The film marks a major reunion between Kamal and Mani Ratnam after nearly four decades. The cast also includes Trisha, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Abhirami, Nassar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ali Fazal, Rohit Saraf and more.
The technical team has Ravi K Chandran as cinematographer, AR Rahman handling the music, and action by the choreographer duo Anbariv. The film is being jointly produced by Red Giant Movies, Raaj Kamal Film International, and Madras Talkies.
